We recognise that our day-to-day activities impact on the environment in a number of ways; both environmental and social impacts. Our key impacts identified:

  • Energy use / renewable energy
  • Water Use
  • Waste Generation
  • Procurement of raw materials

  • Equality
  • Safety & Skills development

Through this policy Robert H Crawford & Son sets out the approach and commitment to sustainability and good corporate responsibility; minimising the impact of its activities on the environment, creating a sustainable business for generations to come:

  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant environmental legislation, regulations and standards
  • Identify our significant environmental impacts and take action to manage these throughout site operations
  • Ensure, through effective management, that our employees and suppliers work in a manner that prevents pollution and protects the environment and local biodiversity.
  • Make effective and efficient use of natural resources, including water, energy, land and raw materials to minimise the generation of waste
  • Purchase sustainable products wherever feasible (e.g. recycled, low environmental impact products and energy from renewable sources)
  • Deliver continual improvement in our overall environmental performance and in establishing objectives, targets and key performance indicators to monitor this improvement. Progress will be communicated to employees and externally
  • We support and adhere to the ETI Base Code which reflects the International Labour Standards (ILO) Conventions, and as part of our terms of trading we request that all our suppliers adopt a similar approach.
  • Labour standards are always followed and conduct a review of our labour standards / human rights; developing a formal appraisal / development program for all employees including safety and skills
  • Ensure this policy is communicated to all staff, customers and general public and provide training and awareness of staff where appropriate
  • Regular review of this policy through seeking dialogue with customers and suppliers to ensure this policy continually evolves and reflects expectations and seek to reduce our environmental impact.
