London to Brighton 2022
Success for our 1920 Ford Model T Truck on the Historical Commercial Vehicle Society London to Brighton Run 2022
54 years after Mr Robert E Crawford took the Ford Model T on the London to Brighton; we took it again and had a very successful 53 mile trip to Brighton.
Following a three trophy success in 1968, we almost replicated with winning two trophies; one for Best in Class A and one for Best Ford in show; we could not be prouder. The latter was the exact same cup won in 1968 and presented to Mr R E Crawford and in 2022 presented to his son Mr Robert J Crawford.
Carried in the back is an original Skerry made by Mr Robert H Crawford in the early 1920’s. He used a Model T identical to this one to make his deliveries in the 1920’s.
The foresight of Mr R E Crawford all those years ago to do such a magnificent restoration in the mid 60’s has meant that still today the Model T remains in the same livery with no further restorations done; apart from a good polish! and is in wonderful condition. This 1 ton truck is very original and runs as well today as it did 102 years ago!
It was a true ‘Robert H Crawford team’ effort and I would like to thank all those that helped prepare us for the run.
